Read this on twitter and it really pissed me off

Saw replays of Patrick Kane's injury. If he stood up & took the hit like a man, it never happens.
First thing I thought was do you not realize that in real life Kane is 5'8" and 160 lbs soaking wet possibly including his gear. I could rant but I promised to make intelligent arguments on this blog so lets look at the incident where Kane got hurt.

As for the hit itself it was a somewhat routine play. Dump the puck, spin away from the hit. Kane looks like he's losing an edge even before Sarich hits him. The stick between his legs wasn't dirty like the announce team tries to project. The only reason Kane is hurt is because he blew a tire and Sarich hit his legs since he had no time to pull up.
Now what irked me was the suggestion that Kane should've just "man'd up" and ate the hit. This brings me back to his measurables. He's really small. Sure if he eats that specific hit he more than likely is not injured, but   the inferred sentiment here is that every hockey player should take every hit. But every player spins away from hits at some point. Yes, I've seen Ovechkin do it too on occasion. Kane is a small man who a lot of teams would love to see off the ice and if he takes every single hit I have no doubt he misses significant time every season, worsening as his career wears on. That's what doesn't seem to be understood in the feeling that "Oh, Kaner tried to duck, he's a pussy". That's what really pissed me off.
Let alone I appreciate seeing an excellent skater avoid a big hit as much as the no nothing mongoloid on twitter loves seeing the big hit. And I love the big hits too ;)
